IX ICIE Reporting and Electing Assembly: main results

The IX ICIE Reporting and Electing Assembly took place on October 5, 2009 in Vilnius, Republic of Lithuania. Its main aim was to analyse the results of ICIE activitiesin 2005-2009, as well as determine further ways of development of the Congress, modernizing its management structure. Nearly 100 delegates took part in the Assembly, representing 27 national unions of industrialists and entrepreneurs from 21 countries.

The delegations from Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia and Moldova were headed by the Presidents of the corresponding unions of industrialists an entrepreneurs, ex-prime-ministers of the countries Mr. Anatoly Kinakh, Dr. Bronislovas Lubys, Mr. Tiit Vahi, Mr. Vasile Tarlev. The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs was represented by Mr. Alexander Murychev, Executive Vice President. The delegation from Kazakhstan was headed by Mr. Kadyr Baikenov, Chairman of the Board of the Employers' Confederation of the Republic.

Representatives from international organizations also participated in the Assembly: John Nettin, Director General of the Europe Business Assembly, Ahmet Erentok, First Vice President of the Union of Black Sea and Caspian Confederation of Enterprises, Sergey Vorobiev, Principal Deputy Executive Director of the International Science and Technology Center.

ICIE President Victor Glukhikh presented the Report of the International Congress. The Report of the ICIE Control Committee was made by Mr. Pechalov, Chairman of the Committee and Chairman of the Board at Eurocredit Bank. ICIE Vice President Valery Kazyulin acquainted the participants with the amendments to the ICIE Charter. 

Participants, particularly Dr. Lubys, Mr. Kinakh, Mr. Murychev and others, spoke about finding a new face of the Congress in modern conditions, principles of financing its activities, its main lines of activity. Several participants, including Alexander Katasov, Head of the Second European Department of the Russian Minitry for Economic Development, proposed concrete projects to be realized within the framework of Congress activites.  

Special attention at the Assembly was given to transforming the Programme "West-East: Integration and Development" into the Constantly Operating Forum "Eurasian Economic Space: Cooperation, Integration and Development".   

As an essential result of the Assembly ICIE and the International Science and Technology Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which laid down the areas and ways of cooperation between the two organizations.

Assembly participants approved the medium-term lines of ICIE activity, the Control Committee Report and the amendments to the ICIE Charter. 

Members of the ICIE Council and Control Committee were elected at the Assembly.

Victor Glukhikh was once again elected ICIE President.  

After the Assembly meetings of the ICIE Council and Control Committee took place. 

Anatoly Kinakh, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was unanimously elected Chairman of the Council. Bronislovas Lubys and Kadyr Baikenov were appointed Deputy Chairmen of the Council.  

The Council formed the Presidium, consisting of 25 members. More than half of the Presidium is represented by leaders of ICIE member national unions of industrialists and entrepreneurs. 

The Council also appointed ICIE Vice Presidents, determined the list of Committees and Representative Offices, as well as their heads. 

During the Control committee meeting Dmitry Pechalov, Chairman of the Board of Eurocredit Bank, was elected Chairman of the Committee.  

On October 6, 2009 following the Assembly the International Congress and the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists jointly organized the International Conference "EU, CIS and Asian Countries. Experience and Perspectives of Economic Development in the Context of the Global Financial and Economic Crisis. Interests of Business".
