The International Conference “EU, CIS and Asian Countries. Experience and Perspectives of Economic Cooperation in the Context of the Global Financial and Economic Crisis. Interests of Business” in Vilnius on October 6, 2009.
More than 200 people took part in the Conference.
The Conference was opened by Victor Glukhikh, ICIE President, Bronislovas Lubys, President of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, and Anatoly Kinakh, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Chairman of the ICIE Council.
During the first session speeches were made by Evaldas Ignatavicius, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Alexander Murychev,
Executive Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE), Romas Svedas, Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania, Antanas Vinkus, Ambassador of Lithuania in Russia, and Shekhar Datta, Past President of the Confederation of Indian Industry. Most speeches touched upon the topic of developing joint measures for overcoming the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis.
At the second session word was given to Ruslan Grinberg, Director of the RAS Institute of Economics, Adrian van den Hoven, Director of the BUSINESSSEUROPE International
Relations Department, Tiit Vahi, President of the Estonian Business Association, Gagik Makaryan, Executive Director of the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia, Rumen Dobrinsky, Chief of Section of the UNECE Economic Cooperation and Integration Division, Ilya Shpurov, ICIE Vice President. The common topic of all speeches concerned uniting efforts and coordination of EU and CIS actions and developing international economic cooperation as a mechanism for increasing the stability of economies and preventing crisis.
The above mentioned topics were also discussed during the third session of the Conference.
Speeches were made by Andrey Kushnirenko, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee, Sasko Staninov, President of the Union of Industrialists, Businessmen and Entrepreneurs of Macedonia, Henri Malosse, President of Employers' Group at the European Economic and Social Committee, Hans Manzke, Director of the International Relations Department at NORDMETALL, Gitanas Nauseda, Adviser to the President at SEB Bank, and Renald Simonyan, Head of the Russia-Baltic Center.
Concluding the International Conference Mr. Glukhikh, Mr. Lubys and Mr. van den Hoven
signed the Final Document of the event, which is meant to strengthen understanding and cooperation between regional and interregional public, social and business associations in the modern conditions in the Eurasian Economic Space.
Today we are analysing the updates to the document. We have received a number of proposals from our members and partners, including the Confederation of Indian Industry, meant to improve and expand the Vilnius Final Document. All proposals will be taken into account as addenda to the signed document.
